Agriculture Committee
Explores and suggests solutions on food animal-related issues.

Animal Welfare Committee

Assesses whether and to what extent the animal welfare policies of the CVMA should differ from those of the AVMA, and whether additional, independent policies relating to the welfare of California’s animals should be adopted by the CVMA.

AVMA Advisory Committee
Seeks individuals from California to serve in AVMA positions and develops suggested policy that can be passed along to the Board of Governors on issues of importance at the AVMA.

CAVMRC Steering Committee

Assists in overseeing the activities of the California Veterinary Medical Reserve Corps (CAVMRC), which in turn works in cooperation with a broad range of entities to provide veterinary services to animals in need during declared emergencies.

Finance Committee
Reviews and recommends the CVMA annual budget to the Board of Governors for approval; makes recommendations on financial policies or procedures to the CVMA’s Treasurer and/or Board for implementation.

Inclusion & Diversity Committee
This committee focuses on cultivating diversity, equity, and inclusion both within the CVMA and in the California veterinary profession as a whole. The work of the committee includes (1) identifying diverse individuals to be leaders of the CVMA, (2) making recommendations for diversity and inclusion-related topics, speakers, and authors in CVMA presentations and publications, and (3) exploring new ways to help promote veterinary medicine as an accessible and welcoming profession to people of all communities, including members of historically underrepresented groups.

Investment Committee
The responsibility of this committee is to—in concert with outside financial advisors—direct and oversee the investment of available association funds consistent with the CVMA’s Investment Policy Statement (IPS), and to make adjustments to the IPS when deemed prudent.

Leadership Committee
The purpose of this committee is to promote, identify, and elect leaders for the CVMA, to review the CVMA’s Constitution, Bylaws, and Policy Manual, and to review and approve award nominations.

Legislative Committee
Reviews and recommends positions on all legislative activity of the CVMA.

Political Action Committee
Acts as the voluntary bipartisan political action arm of organized veterinary medicine in California, raising and distributing funds for the purpose of electing candidates to political office, and encouraging veterinarians to take a more active part in governmental affairs.

Registered Veterinary Technician Committee
Promotes career enhancement and further development of the delivery of veterinary care by RVTs.
