The CVMA invites you to consider participating in one or more of the following standing committees. Please check all committees on which you would like to participate (when there is an opening). All applications will be kept on file for a period of five years. If you have any questions about the purpose or obligations of each committee, please contact Dan Baxter at dbaxter@cvma.net or via phone at 916-649-0599.

Agriculture Committee:

Explores and suggests solutions on food animal-related issues

Animal Welfare Committee:

Addresses animal welfare issues.

AVMA Advisory Committee:

Seeks individuals from California to serve in AVMA positions and develops suggested policy that can be passed along to the Board of Governors on issues of importance at the AVMA.

CAVMRC Steering Committee:

Assists in overseeing the activities of the California Veterinary Medical Reserve Corps (CAVMRC), which in turn works in cooperation with a broad range of entities to provide veterinary services to animals in need during declared emergencies.

Finance Committee:

Reviews and recommends the CVMA annual budget to the Board of Governors for approval; makes recommendations on financial policies or procedures to the CVMA’s Treasurer and/or Board for implementation.

Inclusion and Diversity Committee:

Focuses on cultivating diversity, equity, and inclusion both within the CVMA and in the California veterinary profession as a whole.

Leadership Committee:

The purpose of this committee is to promote, identify, and elect leaders for the CVMA, to review the CVMA’s Constitution, Bylaws, and Policy Manual, and to review and approve award nominations.

Legislative Committee:

Reviews and recommends positions on all legislative activity of the CVMA.

Political Action Committee:

Acts as the voluntary bipartisan political action arm of organized veterinary medicine in California, raising and distributing funds for the purpose of electing candidates to political office, and encouraging veterinarians to take a more active part in governmental affairs.

Membership Committee:

Focuses on fostering a vibrant and engaged membership community, including analyzing membership data to refine marketing and communication strategies, evaluating member benefits and programs, and creating tailored surveys for different member types.

Registered Veterinary Technician Committee:

Promotes career enhancement and further development of the delivery of veterinary care by RVTs.
