Student membership comes with many of the same benefits as non-student membership as well as additional events, programs, and scholarships. Best of all, student membership is free for vet students attending either UC Davis or Western University.
Some of the benefits all of our members enjoy include:
As student members, you’ll enjoy complementary ceremonies, dinners, and labs put on by CVMA, as well as access to programs such as the Summer Work Experience (SWEP). We also offer several scholarships annually to help burden the student-debt load.
UC Davis and WesternU both send one student representative to the Board of Governors and three representatives to the House of Delegates. Veterinary Insurance Services Company (VISC) also offers liaison positions to veterinary students at WesternU and UC Davis. Students are also welcome to serve on committees and task forces, participate in the California Veterinary Medical Reserve Corps, and partake in our annual Legislative Day at the Capitol.
In addition to free membership, we also provide free liability coverage through VISC for all four years of school.
Once you graduate, you’ll have the first year of membership free, followed by tiered rates the next three years. There are also discounted rates on our continuing education events, access to classified ads, networking opportunities, and more.
