Member Benefit: RVT Distance Learning Programs with substantial discounts. Courses begin in August at one school so get started today!
The CVMA has negotiated substantial discounts for employees of CVMA members with three RVT distance learning programs.
Two of the RVT distance learning programs are web-based RVT veterinary technology degree programs offered by a veterinary technology teaching institution. At the end of the DEVTP and Penn Foster program, graduates will have earned an Associate of Science degree. VASE, a California Alternate Route Program accepted by the California Veterinary Medical Board and approved by the California Bureau of Post-secordary Education, offers the required academic instruction that, combined with the required 4,416 hours experience (before registering or by completion of the class) working for a California licensed veterinarian, qualifies students to sit for the national exam. Satisfactory completion of all three distance learning programs qualify students to take the VTNE exam.
Coursework is completed online and there is a separate clinical component met by training with a California licensed veterinarian. These CVMA-recommended distance learning programs meet the same standards of accreditation as traditional veterinary technology programs. The DEVTP and Penn Foster programs are accredited by the AVMA.
Distance learning programs are designed for people whose work and family obligations make it difficult for them to attend a regular on-campus program. They are also for students who do not have a veterinary technician training program near where they live.
